To complement their existing rim selection, e*thirteen is rolling out their new purpose-built enduro TRS tire line in 27.5 and 29in variations. A “true 2.35in” tire, it designed to find a happy medium between the lightness of XC tires and durability of DH through reinforced casing and a sub 1000g weight, and is optimized for modern inner rim widths of 24-31mm.
To control roll in high speed cornering scenarios, the tread pattern features structural, angled bases on the side knobs. Braking, traction, and cornering confidence is ensured through strategically placed knob sipes while short center knobs ensure that the TRS tires roll faster than your typical aggressive XC tire. Lastly, the sidewalls are reinforced to allow for a more stable contact patch than straight-up XC tires by preventing folding under compression. Impressively, the TRS accomplishes this in sub 1000g in 29in (900g and less in 27.5in).
To ensure maximum compatibility across existing e*thirteen rim platforms, the tire was designed with an emphasis on “perfect tubeless fit” with TRS rims while working with both hooked and hookless beads. e*thirteen goes so far that due to the consideration that went into the tire-rim interface on the TRS system, no more than a standard floor pump is required for tubeless set up.
Each tire size comes in two configurations. The plus level dual compound tires are MSRP $56.95 (27.5) and $58.95 (29). The slightly pricier and 30g lighter “race level triple compound” tires are MSRP $69.95 (27.5) and $71.95 (29).
