yeti founder john parker underground bike works plus mountain bikes startup

John Parker, also known as the founder of Yeti Cycles, a Mountain Bike Hall of Fame inductee, five-time USA Cycling board member and one of the forefathers of full suspension and composite frames, is back. And he’s bringing friends.

His new company, Underground Bike Works, will launch at Sea Otter (via Kickstarter) with 27.5+ and 29er+ hardtail mountain bikes. They’re being built by Frank the Welder, and will be raced in the dual slalom by none other than Missy “the Missile” Giove at the event.

“After selling Yeti I went underground. Now I’m back with a vengeance and will be using new technologies and distribution models. If you liked what I did at Yeti you’re going to love what I have up my sleeve at Underground Bike Works. If that don’t light your fire then your wood is wet,” said Parker.

Look for the brand to be consumer direct. More info coming from our Sea Otter Classic coverage, starting in full force on April 14th.

Just what the world needs….more hardtails. Probably crooked ones too.

lol. Bigger wheels allowed hardtails to come back and now they are doing it again with plus size wheels. I think hardtails are great for dirt jumping and getting people into mtbiking due to cost but if you want performance then full suspension is where it’s at!
