Trailcraft had already addressed weight with their top shelf youth mountain bikes by creating a kid-sized alloy frame dressed with lightweight, high end spec. Now, to add to the custom Stan’s NoTubes Crest wheels, Schwalbe tires and RST air suspension fork, they’ve put together a 1×10 wide range gearing option to shed another 200 grams or so.
Ginger Rosenbauer, Trailcraft’s founder, says the option came about from parent’s asking about 42-tooth expander compatibility. So, she decided to simply offer an out of the box solution complete with their own 1x narrow-wide chainrings. Available now in two spec levels, pics and details below…
Up front is the 30-tooth 104BCD chainring, available in a rainbow of colors. The part is also available separately if you want to build up your own 1x system on any kids bike with compatible cranks (they also sell their cranks separately, too).
Out back is the SunRace 11-42 cassette. It weighs in at a claimed 390g and uses an alloy large cog. Tooth counts are 42-36-32-28-24-21-18-15-13-11. Complete bikes with the 1×10 group use a Shimano Zee rear derailleur and Deore shifters and hydraulic brakes and are available with the Stan’s wheel build ($1,775) or Trailcraft’s own wheelset ($1,650), which was introduced in February.
