Just like their stretchy shoe covers introduced in late 2014, veloToze Helmet Cover uses a rubberized one-size-fits-all material to cover your helmet when weather hits. Or when conditions start out chilly but you know they’ll warm up, or you just want to make your current lid a little more aero for those special occasions.

It’s a lightweight (~45g), removable and reusable cover that folds up small enough to fit in your saddle bag or jersey pocket. Dimples on the top may aid aerodynamics…or just look cool. They retail for $22 and come in red or black, or you can get custom orders with your team or shop graphics on them.

Been using shower caps for years. They work great and are practically free.

That’s a pretty cool product. But JuneBug’s idea may be better and makes me feel like an idiot for not thinking of it. Of course, it’s hard to find a shower cap with aero dimples.

Or, you can just buy a silicone swim cap for much less and use that. You can even customize it. I’ve done so successfully multiple times, for far less than $22.

Sugoi has sold one of these for many years. It’s a little more expensive at an MSRP of $30 but works very well.

Hotel shower caps do work as a one-time disposable cover but the cost is unbeatable.

My only problem is that iff its as snug fitting as a swimming cap wont it crush pointy helmets like a Giro Aeon’s tail? I presume it would just be a more stretchy swimming cap?

I sweat like a pig when I ride summer and winter, so keeping a little rain off isn’t really a concern of mine.

I suppose if you bike commute and can stay fresh on the ride it is worth it.

The other concern is that helmets are designed to slide across the ground. Adding this cover will increase the friction between the helmet and the ground, which could lead to more serious head and neck injuries in crashes.

Putting grippy rubber cover over a helmet is a really silly idea. Why do these people think MIPS was developed?

Isn’t this a detriment to the safety of the helmet? The rubber could grab the road during a crash. Thus your head becomes stationary while the body moves which is a bad situation for your neck. Helmets are smooth plastic for a reason, they need to slide on the ground not stick to it.

Doesn’t this compromise the safety of the helmet by preventing it from sliding? GCN didn’t recommend using a swimming cap for that very reason and this doesn’t seem to address that.

This, these covers are a safety issue.

Smarter invention than shimano di2 xt with wires.

I have a stretchy GoreTex one that I bought at Performance a few years ago, but honestly I seldom carry it. I just pack my rain jacket in a zip lock bag (which compacts nicely when you squeeze the air out). Then, if rain comes, I put on the jacket and stuff the bag up inside my helmet.
