The new WTB Convict is their biggest, gnarliest tire ever made, designed to rip through enduro and downhill courses with ease. Tall, thick knobs with siping throughout both dig into the ground and flex to grab it for traction in all directions.
They’re designed for softer trail conditions, from sand to loam. Three casing options are offered, all coming in just a touch over 1,000g, and all for 27.5″ wheels only. Check the specs below…
“The Convict 2.5 is our gravity specialist, whether it be charging bike park laps, the most unforgiving enduro stages or those all-mountain shuttles where emphasize is clearly on the descents,” said Evan Smith, WTB’s tire designer. “It uses wide, blocky knobs to till through loose conditions and grab ahold of chunky rocks and wet roots, while also keeping them spaced consistently along the centerline to minimize rolling resistance. Leaning it over, tall side knobs keep the traction predictable while each is siped at alternating angles to hold traction in every direction. It’s a gravity tire, through-and-through, but we believe riders will be surprised at how efficiently it rolls, making it an equally suitable tire for all-mountain riding in areas with loose, rocky terrain.”
The High Grip models get a base 60A rubber with softer 45A for the exposed knobs. The Fast Rolling tire swaps the outer rubber layer for a slightly firmer 50A to help it roll a little quicker. All are tubeless-ready, just add sealant.
