With several of their athletes (like the amazing Nino Schurter) headed to the Rio Olympics, Scott Sports has custom painted several of their bikes to celebrate the accomplishment. Look for it on the Spark full suspension mountain bike, and the Addict, Plasma and Foil on the pavement.

“When we kicked off the project, we did a lot of research regarding colors, patterns and symbols which represent aspects of Brazilian culture,” says Michael Pinto, the designer behind the Rio Special Edition. “It wasn’t until I spent my holidays in Brazil that I found this unique pattern in the streets of Rio which for me perfectly represents the colorful culture and spirit of the Brazilian people.”

Following the event, a limited run of 50 matching versions of the Foil worldwide. Pre-orders start in September, check them out (plus a wild graphic wrap from Riesel:Designs) below…

The Spark is all-new for 2017 and has a completely different frame and suspension setup than before. Check the tech details here, and click any image to enlarge for detail. Nino will have to wait until Rio to race this bad boy, but you can see his current race rig in our recent Pro Bike Check.

Matching helmets, shoes and full finger gloves will keep them (and possibly you) looking pro from head to toes. Official landing page for the Rio editions is here.

rie:sel designs

If you want your current bike to really stand out, rie:sel designs is up to the task. Rather than paint, they use a printed wrap similar to what’s found on promotional vehicles. We’ve seen some bikes and other parts from them up close, and it’s damn hard to find the seams. Fit and finish is impeccable, and the designs are usually quite eye-catching.

This Rocky Mountain Mayden was a customer’s bike, here’s what they had to say about the project:

A 100% individual custom bike, that’s what a proud Rocky Mountain Mayden Unlimited owner wanted to change his bike into. Including the well known rie:sel design quality standards. After going over various designs “Stickerbomb” was the one he picked – but not only for the frame. The design extends from the Enve M90 rims over the rear triangle, linkages, the main frame down to the BOS Idylle fork. Even the standard rie:sel design “Stuhl” saddle fits perfect in form and design to this concept.

From detail to big picture – perfect down to every nut, bolt and screw. According to this standard rie:sel design realizes projects like this completely customized beauty. Using state of the art printing, foliation and sealing processes the innovative company from Dresden/Germany brings top brilliant and super durable color patterns and individual designs to frames and accessories. Projects that turns heads!

Beside rie:sel design the “Der Dynamo” bike shop from Dresden/Germany masterminded this project. This guys not only configurated and finally built this custom bike itself but also coordinated all the supporting brands like BOS, Enve, Sram, Rocky Mountain, Race Face, Chris King, DMR and others.
