Photo submitted by Andrew Deane, “I am a Canadian ex-pat that just moved to Indianapolis for work. I was pleased to discover that my commute to work would be a scenic 12 mile path along the canals that run through the middle of the city. The canals were started in the late 1830’s as a means of moving goods throughout the state, but were later abandoned with the arrival of the railway. The canal tow path is the gravel pathway running beside the canal that would have originally been for the oxen who would have pulled barges loaded with supplies/merchandise from town to town.
This picture was taken at about the halfway mark after riding 6 miles through driving rain, hail, lightening and thunder. It has been an unusually wet August here with lots of tornado warnings. Although it was cold and muddy, when the rain eventually stopped this rainbow appeared over the canal. It’s hard to see in this picture but there was actually a second rainbow above it. Luckily my titanium CX commuter isn’t afraid of a bit of rain.”
