From high up in Scotland Endura has just rolled out a new set of performance bib tights aimed at getting riders through the long cold northern hemisphere autumn and winter. Sporting a premium chamois available in three widths and developed with their road pro Movistar team, the new Pro SL Biblongs are designed to offer top fit and performance year round…

The same premium 700 series chamois width choice was introduced back in 2014 on their top bib shorts, but now with winter approaching the new PRO SL line brings it for the first time to proper cold weather gear with a full length pair of insulated bib tights with windproof panels. Movistar has since worn the rider-specific, tailored comfort to two Grand Tour wins, and after having it for their own pro off season, now regular riders can get the same comfortable fit through the winter.

The tights are available with the Narrow (green), Medium (red), or Wide (blue) chamois pad or if you want, with no pad to be paired with a regular pair of shorts. How do you pick the size pad that is best for you? Endura breaks it down with a saddle width chart. Just find the saddle that you feel is most comfortable, and pick the chamois pad width that closely corresponds to the same width.

Endura says that the same “continuously variable profile” (CVP) stretch chamois is only one side of the new tights. They combine both a standard brushed fleece thermal fabric for insulation, with windproof panels at both the front & back of the legs and across the groin.

But unlike many windproof tights, Endura claims that their fabric retains flexibility eliminating the stiff feel that usually comes with wind-blocking textiles. And with the more elastic barrier fabric, Endura is able to wrap it across the upper part of the back of the legs and over the butt to block out more road spray, as it gets paired with a DWR coating.

The tights get a thin raw edge at the ankle that is said to stay put better without the need for stirrups or zippers, and meshes well with both winter riding boots and shoe covers. The upper bib straps use a textured mesh that does a good job of moving moisture away from the back, while also offering a bit more insulation.

The black bib tights get reflective dots on the backs of the calves for better visibility, and sell for £140/200€/$230 with a pad or £120/170€/$200 without.

Like the rest of their top line, these new Pro SL Biblong tights get backed by Endura’s  90 day Pro SL comfort guarantee. If you’re not totally happy with their comfort after three months, Endura will take them back for a full refund. Joining the tights to get you through the winter the Pro SL collection also includes a light & fully waterproof shell jacket, a thermal windproof jacket, a packable PrimaLoft vest, and a host of winter warmers and socks to keep you dry and warm until spring.
