Assuming you’re not already out the door en route to a ‘cross race, you may need a little video inspiration to saddle up. Commencal’s Pierre-Charles Georges makes it look easy. Perhaps that’s because he’s a Megavalanche winner, World Cup DH racer and Enduro World Series competitor. Or because these are his home trails. Probably all of the above.
BEFORE GRAVEL, IT WAS JUST CALLED RIDING
The Votec Gravel Fondo got riders going over gravel through Germany’s Black Forest in October, which looks like something we should definitely do next year. The whole “gravel” scene is only just starting to gain attention in Europe (according to everyone at Eurobike), but in reality, they’ve been riding their bikes on cobbles, paths and dirt roads for more than a century, so it’s really just calling it something new and setting up a Strava Club for it. And making a bike for it.
SMOOTH, LIKE BETTER
Think you’ve got the best line? Shoot it POV style with your GoPro and submit it to Pinkbike’s contest for a shot at $15,000. This one’s from Steve Story and, quite honestly, is perhaps the most stabilized video we’ve ever seen for a run like this…magic.
BASICALLY IT DOESN’T MATTER
Sip or chug? Well, depends on how many people are cheering you on. I mean, peer pressure, right? Oh, not that kind of chugging? Sorry. If you’re not sure whether you should guzzle during riding or not, Camelbak has a bit of insight for you.
