Trailcraft Cycles helped usher in the current era of premium youth mountain bikes, and now they’re bringing more styles to the kids with their all-new Maxwell full suspension line and Big Mesa 26″+ bike. They’ve also updated their Pineridge 24″ and Timber 26″ hardtail mountain bikes with more shapely tubsets, and they’re offering a direct mount 1x chainring for their short, kid-sized cranks. What’s even more interesting is that several of the bikes are sized to fit short adults, and the 26+ hardtail can even run 27.5″ wheels and tires!
The Big Mesa 26-plus hardtail comes in XS and S sizes and rolls on the new WTB Ranger 26 x 2.8″ plus tire, but will fit up to a 3.0″ tire. Aimed a little more at big kids or small adults, it gets a 120mm RockShox Reba Boost fork with matching Boost rear spacing.
Geometry is trail ready and angled for riders in the 4’9″ to 5’2″ height range in the XS size and 5″2-5’6″ range in size Small. Complete bikes have a claimed weight around 24lbs with dropper post and pedals, starting at $1999.
The Maxwell full suspension line comes in three versions – 24″, 26″ and 26-plus. All get relatively short chainstays, internal dropper post routing and Trailcraft’s cranks. The Maxwell 24 (above) gets 100mm front and rear travel with a claimed out-of-the-box weight of just 24 pounds with pedals and complete bikes starting at $2,199. Upgrade to “pro” level builds, or just get a frameset.
The Maxwell 26 gets 26″ wheels, 120mm travel front and rear, and Boost front and rear.
It’s designed for riders in the 4’9″ to 5’2″ height range, comes in at a claimed 26 pounds with pedals, and starts at $2,399.
The Maxwell 26+ full suspension bike that’ll run a 26×3.0…or a 27.5 x 2.4. It also gets Boost axles on both ends and is made for 4’9″ to 5’2″ tall riders for the XS size and 5″2-5’6″ for the Small.
Their original bike, the Pineridge 24, as well as its big sister, the Timber 26″, updates the frame with a hydroformed downtube and a slightly slacker head angle.
They’ve got new cranks, too, that’ll work with a custom direct mount 1x chainring in kid appropriate tooth counts and arm lengths.
