It’s about time we have another Mega Clothing Roundup as we get closer to summer. Locally, sustaining high temperatures have made me retire my thermal and wool gear until the fall, replacing them with light & breathable pieces. This roundup consists of a range of designs from simple to intricate provided by well-known brands including Cinelli, Brooks, Santini, RPM Cycling, and Boardman. See what’s new past the break…

Look out Jimi Jimmy, Cinelli is putting out the Purple Haze now. Riders can now match their jersey, cap, gloves, and tape with the recently released Cinelli Nemo Tig Purple Haze frame. Their Italo 79 Aero jersey comes in sizes S – XXL and has an aero/race cut, infused 50+ uv/upf protection, standard 3 pockets, and reflective details ($108). Their Nemo Tig cap is made in Italy with breathable material and is one size fits all ($21). The DND gloves have a 4-way stretch build up top, finger grips, elastic cuffs, and durable suede palm ($39). Wrapping up the collection is the purple classic soft touch tape that’s branded throughout with stylized C’s.

Well known saddle producer Brooks is offering matching jerseys and seats in tandem with a signed copy of David Millar’s new book, The Racer, for their ONEMORELAP pack. The jersey is a Castelli Chpt. III 1.22 that offers a full-length zipper, lightweight moisture wicking fabric, 4 pockets (1 zipper secured), and reflective trim. It also matches a 295 g carbon Brooks Cambium C13 saddle. Lastly, an autographed copy of David Millar’s The Racer tells a story of what professional cyclists go through to reach the top, and what living the lifestyle entails. The complete package is available on Brooks’ website for €390.

Santini is back at it by providing the official jerseys for the Giro d’Italia. The replica collection available for purchase offers six jerseys. Each vary in patterns and colors, but they share similar cuts and features. The arms and back panels are their Body Fit fabric. It’s super elastic and allows for the garment to contour to different body shapes reducing the amount of flapping material. The front panel however is perforated and less prone to stretching which helps with moisture management and provides a backbone for the rest of the jersey. 3 rear pockets is standard throughout the collection. Jerseys can be picked up for $105, and other items such as matching gloves, caps, bibs, and socks are available.

RPM Cycling released their Stripes collection that consists of breathable jerseys for men and women, along with a slightly warmer thermal option. Similar to some other tops in this roundup, the front of the standard jersey is slightly less breathable than the sides and back which are a mesh-like fabric. The back has 4 pockets, including 1 that zips, and reflective accents. The only notable differences between the men’s and women’s jerseys are the cuts and colors (and price: €90 men’s  €70 wmn’s). The thermal option offers wind & waterproof fabric, a dropped back (for tire spray), reflective properties, and of course 3 pockets (€130). Bottoms include the classic bib shorts and classic lady shorts. The bib shorts have flat lock stitches, reflective details, leg grippers, and a race fit (€120). The women’s shorts also have a race cut, and leg grips, but differ with a women specific pad and no shoulder straps (€72). A majority of sizes range from XS – XXL, the classic lady shorts fit from XS – Xl.

Boardman‘s most recent release includes race and relaxed cut jerseys, as well as waterproof and packable jackets. The jerseys share the same wicking fabrics, 4 rear pockets including one that zips, and reflective details. Race fit jerseys are priced at £40 while relaxed cuts are £30. The waterproof and packable jackets have relaxed fits and get full length zippers along with reflective attributes. Setting them apart, the waterproof jacket has taped seams while the windbreaker (packable) is lightweight and can pack into a jersey pocket. Price is set at £55 for the waterproof and £35 for the packable. There’s a mix between EU and US sizing, men’s typically ranging from XS – XXXL while women’s are 8 – 18.
