Whether you’re swimming through the singletrack or attacking that county line sprint, USAMade’s new Oval Sharktooth chainrings have a tooth count to match. Their new rings come in GXP and BB30 SRAM direct mount and 110bcd Shimano asymmetric 4-bolt configurations, the latter with inner and outer rings for double road set ups. And they start at just $23…

In development for more than a year, the rings are machined from 6061-T6 alloy and come with a limited lifetime warranty. The Shark Tooth design is combined with wide-narrow teeth chain retention on their direct-mount 1x rings, which they claim offers zero chain drops. The black ano is finished with a Teflon surface treatment for smoother, cleaner operation.

For GXP and BB30 direct mount, they offer 30/32/34 tooth options, all with 0mm offset. Use their 6mm adapter to space it out for long-spindle setups. For 110mm Shimano 4-Bolt they offer 34/36/38 tooth inner and  50/52/53 tooth outer chainrings. They also offer the same tooth counts in a 110bcd standard 5-bolt pattern for non-Shimano cranks.

If you’re looking for more options, check out their one-piece chainring with bash guard they introduced earlier this year…along with the smallest 104bcd option around.

So, made from a softer alloy than other manufacturers rings and with a shape that will promote chain suck from day one. Good stuff.

But it looks cool.

Actually i never had chain suck on a 1X setup and 23$ is a good price. I’ll check the ovality to see if it’s not far away from the very good but overpriced osymetric and might get some.

Neither have I until a ring is completely worn out which is when a ring takes on this hooked shape, imagine when the chain should leave the teeth – this ring will try to ‘hook’ the chain – Its the exact opposite of the eagle / ab / WT designs where they use a shape to prevent this.

I’m having this exact problem. Put this ring on my singlespeed; it hooks the chain as it comes rolls off the bottom of the ring. Catches the chain, clunk clunk. Annoying and dumb.

I wish someone would make a 32t double for Shimano 4 bolt asymmetric MTB

So how will you be able to tell when your chainring is worn out if it already looks like it is?
