The Magnum Smart (T9000) by TACX caught our eye earlier this year at Eurobike by offering what appears to be one of the most immersive training experiences out there. It’s a hybrid between a traditional treadmill and bike trainer with features that make riding on it safer, easier and more realistic. And it’s finally available. In some places.
TacX Magnum Smart Features:
TACX designed the Magnum Smart to simulate riding outside as closely as possible. Its computer connects to Zwift and other third-party training software via ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth for customizable workouts. It also has its own system to create personalized workouts. Adding to the experience is the ability to elevate the platform up to a 15% incline to make hills feel more realistic. And built-in sensors adjust the belt speed based the rider’s acceleration and deceleration, letting riders reach up to 30km/h (~18mph) on it.
But I want it now…
They’re currently available in Belgium and the Netherlands for €8,000 with first orders being installed around the beginning of 2018. North Americans can expect a price point around $9,300 and will have to wait patiently for its release. And don’t worry about installing it, the unit is set up by trained team members.
