It’s new bike Tuesday! Which means in addition to the new hard tail from Rocky Mountain, there are not one, but two new rides from Santa Cruz. Like Rocky, one of those two bikes is a hard tail – the new Highball 3.
Like previous models, the Highball runs 29″ wheels and tires for the makings of a fast hard tail that would be great for racing, or just riding. Up front, the 100mm suspension fork is held at a 69.5º head tube angle – a full degree slacker than previous. You’ll also find internal cable routing with compatibility for internal 27.2mm dropper posts, a 1x specific frame, a threaded bottom bracket, a bolt on down tube protector, three bottle cage mounts, and Boost axle spacing.
Claimed weight is 19.1lbs / 8.9kg for the XX1 Reserve build.
While the Highball will fit up to a 29 x 2.4″ tire, there is not room for 27+ conversions. The frame continues with post mounts inside the rear triangle for a tidy rear end.
Pricing ranges from $2,799 for the Highball 3 C with an R kit to the full $7,999 XX1 Reserve build on the CC frame. The CC frame is also available separately for $1,899. Available now.
