It’s been a while since we’ve so many new tires from Kenda, and they seem to cover the range from lightweight XC race tires up to aggressive enduro and gravity tires, plus a deep spiked mud tire. Over the past year or more, they’ve focused on reworking their popular Nevegal and rounding out the full gravity Helldiver and Hellkat, as well as improving their casings technology and naming structure. So, to kick things off, here’s the recap of their new casing scheme.
One typo is that SCT…should be Sealant Compatible Tech, which does indeed get a little extra sidewall protection and easy tubeless setup with sealant. Of the tires introduced here, only the Regolith had EMC e-bike ready casings called out as options, but they are adding that to the Nevagal Pro and more of their popular treads. All of the tires below had sizes listed, but pricing, weights and availability are TBD. We’ve asked for more info and will update as we get it.
The Regolith Pro is their new lightweight all-rounder, aimed at the trail and all-mountain riders looking for a knobby that balances durability with climbable weights.
The Regolith will come in 27.5 and 29er in 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6 widths. It uses a 120tpi casing, and claimed weights are available for two of them: The 29×2.20 should weigh in around 755g for the SCT version, and 683g for TR.
The new Kenda Grand Mudda brings back a proper mud spike, with the addition of intermediate strips and plenty of siping to help the knobs conform to bigger things like roots and rocks hiding under the wet stuff.
The Grand Mudda will only come in a 27.5×2.4 and gets their AGC casing.
The El Capo appears to be aimed at the budget rider looking for high performance to dollar ratio. It’s only listed in wire bead options with a 30tpi casing, but plenty of sizes to choose from.
Look for it to ship in every wheel size except 26″, giving you options for 20″, 24″, 27.5″ and 29er in 2.4, 2.6. The 27.5 also gets a 2.8.
The Booster Pro gives them a more modern XC race tire, which they say has already been proven on the World Cup circuit by Bianchi’s Stephanie Tempier and offers lightweight and grippy rubber.
It only comes in a 29×2.2 (in SCT and TR versions) and prefers hardpack conditions and rocks, but they say it holds both well whether wet or dry. The casing is a supple 120tpi layup.
The Alluvium Pro gravel race tire has been shown before and should be getting very close to being available by now.
It gets bead-to-bead puncture protection and will come in a 700×40 size.
