Jeff Jones wants to get more people on his bikes. Over the past 15 years, Jeff has slowly improved on his vision of the perfect mountain bike, but that has usually come with a cost. Relatively small batches and high end materials and construction methods meant higher prices and bikes sold only as framesets or custom select builds which only added to the price. Now, Jeff is hoping to get more people riding a Jones by offering a more affordable complete version of the Jones Plus Short Wheel Base.

While the Complete bike shares the same geometry and ride philosophy as the previous framesets, there are a few differences to make it more cost effective. Starting with the material, the complete bike is made from non-heat treated 4130 chromoly steel which has to be a bit heavier to maintain the same level of strength. You’ll also find a standard threaded bottom bracket instead of the eccentric bottom bracket used on the framesets. Smaller details include different fork dropouts though the fork is still a 150 x 15mm thru axle with ample clearance for 27.5 x 3.0″ tires or 29 x 2.6″ (bike comes with 27.5 x 3.0).

Then there’s the build itself. While the frame is made in Taiwan, the bike is assembled in China and the build includes more affordable parts like Tektro MD-M300 mechanical disc brakes with 200/180mm rotors. The bike comes with a wide range 1×10 drivetrain though you can add a front derailleur if you’d like.

It also includes Jones SG Aluminum Loop H-Bars with extra long Jones H-Grips for control up front. The frame still includes all the bottle, rack, and fender mounts you’d expect, and the black finish includes a simple decal head tube badge instead of the metal version.

What this means for the consumer is that you’ll get nearly the same performance as the standard Jones Plus SWB albeit with a slightly heavier frame, but for a more affordable price of $1799. Offered in Small, Medium, and Large, the bikes are available for order now.

Frameset only?
Love the frameset, don’t love the build.

1800 bux for a non heat-treated frame, rigid fork, Tektro disc brakes, and an old 1×10 drivetrain? That is a hard sell, even if we’re willing to give Jones some leeway for being a small guy selling a somewhat unique product.

Jones is a great riding bike I have been riding one (or two) for the last 3+ years and love riding them
I mostly Mountain bike, but also Bikepack.

I meant to say, the complete Jones looks pretty good @ 1799.00. I cant see how you could offer something non-cookie cutter for much less.
