Scott has just released an all-new, long-travel Ransom enduro bike with 170mm of suspension at both ends and the ability to easily swap back and forth between 29″ or 27.5″ wheels. Besides building a downhill capable bike that can switch from trail to bike park modes at a flip of a switch on the new Fox Nude TR shock, Scott also is putting the new bike together with three different combinations of carbon & alloy frameset to meet the budget of more trail riders.

2019 Scott Ransom build options, Pricing & Weights

We already went into full detail on the tech that makes this new bike unique – not the least of which are its long travel, flip chip suspension options, climbing-friendly TwinLoc remote control & new Fox Nude TR shock that flips from trail to bike park modes! But what is going to make this bike make it out to more riders are its three frame options – carbon+carbon, carbon+alloy, and alloy+alloy – and six total complete bike builds that let’s Scott hit a wide range of price points.

The top-level $7500 / 7500€ Ransom 900 Tuned gets the full carbon frameset that Scott claims to weigh just 2.65kg with the new Fox Nude TR Ramp Adjust Shock. That includes the brand’s stiffest HMX hi-mod carbon front triangle, plus a carbon rocker and carbon stays.

The complete bike is built up with a 170mm Fox 36 Float Factory fork with its FIT4 damper and three compression modes linked to the TwinLoc remote. On the other end of that is the custom Fox Nude TR EVOL shock also with Factory Kashima coating, which cycles between 170mm of travel in open Descend mode, sitting higher up with 120mm of travel in Traction Control mode, and high & closed in Lockout mode.

A SRAM X01 Eagle group with a DUB cranks gets things moving, and Code RSC brakes bring it to a stop. Cockpit is all Syncros with the carbon Hixon iC Rise bar+stem, new Toino saddle atop a Fox Transfer Factory dropper, and then finished with Syncros Revelstoke 1.5 30mm internal alloy wheels wrapped with 2.6″ Maxxis Minion tires. Claimed weight for the bike is just 13.2kg/29.1lb.

A Ransom 700 Tuned shares the same build and same pricing, but with 27.5″ wheels and shedding 100g.

Next up the Ransom 910 shares the same tech and carbon front end of the bike while swapping in a set of alloy SL seat & chainstays. That helps bring the price down a good bit to $5400 / 5500€ along with a move to Performance level Fox suspension components, a GX Eagle drivetrain XT brakes and a separate alloy Syncros bar and stem, plus Revelstoke 2.0 wheels. Switching out to more affordable components doesn’t add much weight, with the Ransom 910 at a claimed 13.9kg/30.64lb.

Interestingly, the mixed carbon+alloy bike is not available in a 27.5″ wheel complete build. If you want to go that option you’d have to buy the 29er, then swap wheels.

2019 Scott Ransom 920 & 720

The Ransom 920 & 720 drop down even further to $3800 / 3800€ with the move to an all aluminum, custom butted 6011 Alloy SL frameset. Both wheelsizes share the exact same frame & build kit, with Performance-level Fox suspension, including a Nude T (not TR) shock that drops rebound damping control.

The bikes get a SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain, Shimano MT520 4-piston brakes, a Syncros dropper & Revelstoke 2.5 wheels. The 29er 920 should weigh 14.95kg/32.96lb, and the 27.5 bike 14.85kg/32.74lb.

Lastly the Ransom 930 shares the same aluminum frame, dropping down to $3000 / 3000€ with an even more affordable bike build. It still gets a NX Eagle drivetrain and now MT500 dual-piston brakes, but swaps to more budget-friendly suspension. Up front a RockShox Yari RL Solo Air gives 170mm of travel and open or locked out modes.

But the entry Ransom maintains full TwinLoc three-mode functionality thanks to a custom X-Fusion Nude rear shock. You still get 170mm, 120mm & Lockout modes to get the most out of the new enduro bike. Weight climbs to 15.1kg/33.3lb, still manageable for such a long-travel 29er. Again, no 27.5 version at this spec level though.

All six of the different Ransom bike builds share the same flip chip adjustable geometry, and each will be available in four frames sizes (S-XL).
