As the house bike brand of mail order giant Chain Reaction, one might be excused for not looking further at Vitus Bikes. But leveraging their decades of experience in the industry and substantial purchasing power, Vitus has managed to put together a pretty solid modern cyclocross race bike in the new Vitus Energie CRX.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Vitus, ChainReactionCycles, and Wiggle are one and the same.

Yep, it’s their in-house brand kind of like NukeProof bikes too.

The first two bikes pictured (the Black/Red Force 1x and Green/Yellow Rival 1x) are the 2018 models that were available in the UK. I’m assuming these colours have not been reused for the newer 2019 models in other regions?

I think the spec of these bikes is ideal for the budget – i23 rims and wider tires, with SRAM 1x groupsets. But I find it a bit funny that they have all these bikes spec’d with SRAM, which they’re obviously getting for a great price, yet if you break a RD or similar in a race, they can’t sell you the replacement part.

SRAM actually cracked down on these guys reselling their OEM parts, unlike Shimano who don’t give a f* about grey market.

Vitus – once proud brand now just a mark made of off the rack parts in China / Asia / wherever ?

That Wiggle price ain’t half bad for a full carbon bike with Force groupset. Some brands charge happily twice as much for comparable builds…

I am looking hard at Energie with etap AXS. Literally 1/2 price of bikes with that setup and carbon wheels. Am I missing something? Anyone ridden one? Like?
