Look gets aero and ergonomic with updated Aeroflat bar and Aergo extensions

Look has long been a fixture in the track scene, with unique aerobars and complete bikes. For 2019, they’re showing one of the most adjustable aerobars out there, the Aeroflat. It uses their proprietary Aergo extensions, said to be the stiffest and most adjustable ever from the French manufacturer. There are three different configurations to cover your bases for triathlon, track, and their 796 bike.

Look is all about aero and adjustability for track, triathlon, and time trial. They debuted the 796 Monoblade a few years ago, which uses a special flat stem. While the new Aeroflat bar is available in a specific version for that bike, there are two additional versions to offer compatibility with the rest of the cycling market.

The 796 Aeroflat works only on LOOK 796 bikes. The Road 31.8 Aeroflat bar is compatible with all bikes using a 31.8mm stem. Finally, the Track 31.8 Aeroflat uses a stiffer version of the base bar and no cable routing.

The bigger story here, however, is the highly adjustable Aergo extensions – said to be the stiffest and most ergonomic ever by Look. According to Look representatives, Aergo is capable of offering up to 75° of angle at the end of the extension arms, with 0-7° of lateral adjustability from the ergonomic armrests to the tips of the extensions.

Perhaps the most important feature is the surface area of the armrest pads, which extend far ahead of the rider’s elbows for greater support and comfort for long distances. The armrests have 55mm of stack height adjustment, along with 20 degrees of rise adjustment. Reach adjustment range is 54mm, while the arm pad width ranges from 98mm to 205mm (center to center).

Development and validation of the bar was done with the 2016 and 2017 UEC European Track men’s team pursuit champions, along with professional triathlete Denis Chevrot. The bars include a UCI-legal central carbon mini bridge, while a triathlon-specific bridge is available as an add-on accessory.

The system retails for £1,069/$1,290, while the upgrade kit for your 796 bike will run £779/$990. The add-on carbon triathlon bridge retails for £145/$199.
