How did a leader in stainless steel vacuum insulated water bottles enter the hydration pack market? With a pack that would keep your water cold, of course. In partnership with HydraPak, the two companies developed the Cold Flow system which combines an insulated IsoBound reservoir inside of a neoprene internal sleeve with reflective material to prevent heat transfer. The result is a pack that is supposed to keep your water cold for more than four hours and it seems to deliver.
Now, in addition to the 10 & 20L Journey series, Hydro Flask is teasing a new model called the Down Shift. That downshift refers to the act of moving the weight from your shoulders to your hips with a new low profile reservoir that sits down low in the pack. The 14L pack will include a 2L insulated reservoir in the lumbar region of the pack to keep the center of gravity low for improved performance.
When available, the Down Shift will be sold in three colors and will sell for $135.
Back in the Journey Series, Hydro Flask is also adding a new women’s pack with a 16L capacity and a full 3L insulated bladder. The pack has redesigned shoulder straps and a shorter, narrower back panel as well as a shorter hip belt to better fit women’s bodies. Available in Pomegranate and Black, the pack will sell for $185.
Both of the new packs are part of their Spring 2020 line, so availability will be later this year or early next year.
