Swiss wheel manufacturer SPENGLE has a lot to show off at Eurobike this year. As you may have noticed, the Collection series of wheels includes some incredible design collaborations with artists from Europe and the US. They used their fail-safe monocoque tri-spoke wheels as the canvas for crazy designs. The series includes Chromeo ($5,900), Lava, Popping Cherry ($3,500), Iridescent ($7,100), and Neon Glitch ($7,300) paint schemes. Some of which take over 40 hours of detailing to finalize and are limited to as little as 1 set. Each pair is 650b and has an internal width of 24mm. They use Centerlock disc mounts and will have the axle width finalized before being delivered. There are a total of 10 sets available.

Additionally, SPENGLE will be showing off some 3D printed previews of their upcoming 700c wheels at Eurobike. So be sure to check back with us during our coverage for updates.

Tbh I was “slightly” more shocked by the 7000$+ wheels.

Sign me up for a few sets of those Spengle wheels. What a great deal. Can’t true them, who knows who makes the hub internals, 24mm internal width is too narrow for mountain and a little wide for gravel, and the price is totally right.

but think of the aero benefits of the spengle as you average 15 to 20kmh on most mtb races….

That width is fine for either discipline. Assuming 35-55mm tires, you’d be fine. Especially with 650b gravel tires trending towards 47mm, that would work great. Plenty of mtbs still come with wheels even narrower at 19-20mm inner width.

Spot-on @Shafty, we tend to gravitate to 47mm WTB tyres for gravel usage, and 2.35″ Schwalbe for MTB

Sure lets throw those $7000rims onto my gravel bike and get them all scratched and dinged up, that will add value right.

Doesn’t the bike industry try to re-invent the “spoked” wheel every 6~8 years? Spin, Spinergy, etc…..

Spengle has been building 3 spoke composite wheels for decades… at least since the late ’80’s
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Spengle is based in Slovakia, not Switzerland.

Hey Truckz – thanks for the correction to my post. I was wrong definitely not a johnny-come-lately. Now knowing this, I kinda appreciate their stick-to-itiveness…..they’re website shows they are in Switzerland.

Still not for me, but keep on Spenglin’, Spengel….

@Trucknutz – since 1988 We are based in Switzerland, but manufacture entirely in Slovakia, we try to ensure that we can always see mountains from our windows!

@DingDang – those two brands both actually started after us, they focussed on the English-speaking world, whilst we dominated continental Europe instead – nothing but love for them!
