Ciamillo announced the new Zero G20, their latest in lightweight road rim brakes. Based on their carbon fiber Lekki8 design with inline dual pivots, the G20’s opt for alloy to decrease the price by over 50%. They’re consumer-direct only, and available to pre-order now for early 2020 delivery.

Ciamillo Zero G20 road bike rim brakes

Ciamillo is perhaps best known for their carbon fiber Lekki8 road brake calipers, and now they’re taking that technology into new materials. Details are slim as of now, but they appear to be primarily made out of some type of alloy – with the same basic design as the carbon version.

They use an inline dual pivot design, with a single mounting bolt (sorry, no direct-mount version as of now). Ciamillo doesn’t have exact production weight figures yet, but promises only a “slight weight increase” over the Lekki8 (which weigh 144g per set with pads and all hardware).

Ciamillo is taking pre-orders now, with the official launch on January 1, 2020. They will offer the standard version for $290 per pair, and an SL version with full titanium hardware for $350. The Lekki8 carbon version continues to be available for $679.

After years of working on tri bikes with Zero Gravity brakes, I can see why now triathletes would want disc brakes but still wonder why they never cared about actual braking performance before.

I’ve been running Zero Gravity’s for years, and I ride in the mountains of Colorado with carbon wheels. I honestly don’t understand the complaints on these. They work fine IMHO. Not as good as my DA brakes, but I don’t have any real complaints. I’m 170lbs, so maybe that plays a part?

“Ciamillo is perhaps best known for their carbon fiber Lekki8 road brake calipers”

That is funny. The thing he is best known for is taking peoples money and failing to provide a product while stringing them along for months or years. Anybody willing to order direct and not through a distributor should know that up front. I’m not surprised to see they are consumer direct only, no distributor would still be willing to work with him!

Wrong, I am known for building the lightest, best road calipers in the world. I had some recession setbacks but made reparations with everyone.. in fact, actively sought out making reparations and compensations. I struggled through and prevailed and now I am back to making the best and lightest brakes in the world.

There is no photo here of a real product, only CGI. If you want to build conifdence that your product is real, then you need to have actual photos.

Yeah I’d not order off a Solidworks image. Could be a great product but not yet.

I’ll take a hard pass on Ciamillo. If they had any sense they’d take their “lesson learned” new approach and abandon the Ciamillo design and aesthetic. This is the same old weight weenie garbage they’ve made with many other names. They’ve got one thing they tried to make well, and rarely pulled off. The market has changed…. change with it.

I’m with Steve, Kevin, and Kristoff. Ted is a liar and detriment to the cycling industry. He took over $700 of my money in 2012 and never delivered a product. I finally got ahold of him and his new “company” in 2018, exchanged a couple emails, after years of no responses, about him making it right and now haven’t heard back since October of 2018.

Save your money and buy literally anything else.

That is simply not true. We have taken care of everyone who contacted us. There have been no unresolved issues that we no of. We asked repeatedly for anyone to come forward who was owed something from the setbacks – and we took care of all of them. This is simply trolling. If you have a legitimate complaint please email me at ewaciamillo@gmail.com

Hi Matt,

I am sorry for my comment on BikeRumor, I was not aware of the fact that you emailed Ted last year. He checked his email today and sure you did contact us. I was in Canada at the time. I am handling the refunds through my email address and I never got anything from you. I assume he forgot, I apologize for the incompetence. Please email me directly and I will handle it as soon as possible.

UPDATE:

Ted and Ewa finally issued a refund, after finding that I had contacted them last year. I appreciate them fulfilling my request for a refund, all these years later. Good luck to them on their future endeavors.

50% off expensive rim brakes? Sure it si quickly becoming obsolete. My next frame is disc brakes, I would not send a dime on rim brakes right now. Specially overpriced slow to deliver ones.

Based on what I knew of this company’s prior history, I figured the comment section would be interesting. I wasn’t disappointed.

I see in this thread a few people who say they never got a refund, but no one who said they did get one.

I was able to dispute payment with my cc provider. After reading the other horror stories, got my dispute in within the window.

Actually, that’s not true. I know because I’m one of the guys you defrauded. I am happy to provide the emails to prove it. You never compensated me and I certainly believe the others here you say you defrauded them as well. $340.90 down the tubes.

Hi Ted, I’ve emailed and called you an incredible amount of times regarding you taking a huge amount of monies for brakes that were never sent ! You haven’t contacted me ???

Ive had absolutely zero communication from you… easy to make a statement but you need to back that up with actions !!!

Perhaps you would like to send me the compensation you state you are giving or maybe some brake sets ?

I had 8 sets of these brakes on my personal bikes no it to mention another 25-30 sets for custom builds !

Your brakes are incredible with a dishonesty to match

I have asked Ciamillo several questions, but they have not replied for weeks. I think it is a bogus company.

Hi, I bought Lekki8 from Ted Ciamillo in 2021 and while the product delivered is as stated (light and functional, though does not provide as powerful braking as the heavier mainstream products), I had to wait 3 MONTHS for the product to arrive, following my payment.

In the meantime, I was deceived and manipulated by Ted in his procrastinating emails and lost a lot of nerves and time. The delay also messed up my training and racing plans.

All in all, I am fortunate not to have been completely robbed by this person. Customer service at Ciamillo is horrible, so take that into account when considering purchasing an otherwise cool product from TC.
