When it comes to the world of automotive-bicycle crossover products, the end result can range from cringe-worthy to outrageous and incredibly expensive. Even BMW has a history of, uh, questionably designed bicycles, but the latest M Bike looks… good?

Sure, it’s just a fitness hybrid with an interesting frame design, but the whole thing is remarkably clean and well speced. The geometry looks decent, it has a carbon fork and seat post, and a simple but effective 1×11 drivetrain with a Shimano XT Shadow RD+ rear derailleur. There’s also hydraulic disc brakes, Ergon grips, Continental tires, and an FSA crankset – not to mention the robust looking kickstand, bell, and the included flat/SPD pedals.

Priced at $1,400, without seeing the full spec it seems like it could be competitively priced as well.

Introduced by our friend, Tibor Simai, the M Bike can be purchased in S, M, or L (no geometry tables provided), directly from the BMW website.

As a former (well, I still own it) E46 M3 guy who swapped for E63S AMG…neither brand needs to be denigrated with silly over priced bike.

Bikes shouldn’t be denigrated by association with car brands, esp not those who make overpowered ego chariots like those.

Fairly certain crap like this is made so BMW dealers can’t tag it onto the monthly payment. Kind of like the Thule bike racks are Subaru stealerships. Yeah you can buy something that looks nice and performs well for $600 like a 1 up or Küat but they sell a low quality rack from Thule at the dealership for $800+ because you can just add it to the car payment.

Chances are, if you are in the dealership buying a new “M” car (>$60k), you are not too worried about the price of a decent bike.

I have a 2 wheeled BMW. It is great. This one is sad.
