Pipedream Cycles have been teasing us with spy shots of The Full Moxie for the best part of three months. The full bouncer has finally landed in plain view, revealing a steel frame single-pivot full suspension enduro bike, and it looks fine. It retains the gussetless clean lines of the original hardtail Moxie, but now offers up to 146.3mm of rear wheel travel. It is a versatile package, with sufficient clearance to run a 27.5″ or 29″ wheelset. Or, if you’re sold on asymmetry, run it as a mixed wheel-size mullet.

“Right from the start, we knew we had to keep the clean, distinctive lines of the Moxie, but not sacrifice performance and reliability. With this in mind, a single-pivot suspension design was the best way forward. Not only are we able to tune the kinematic to suit, but also keep maintenance down to a minimum.” – Alan Finlay of Pipedream Cycles.

Pipedream’s Full Moxie uses a shock yoke to wrap around the seat tube to produce 140mm+ of progressive travel. Run a 62.5mm stroke shock for 140mm rear wheel travel or a 65mm stroke shock for 146.3mm. In the absence of a seat stay bridge, Pipedream’s X-Brace takes on the job of managing lateral loads. The CNC-machined brace ties the rear end of the Full Moxie together, locking everything in to resist torsion. As a result, the frame is laterally stiff so the suspension can perform well.

CNC machining of the brace meant that designer Alan Finlay was able to form it around the seat tube. This meant that Pipedream didn’t have to project the front of the swingarm forward of the seat tube, as can be seen on the Starling Swoop, for example.

The Pipedream Full Moxie is available in two frame sizes; Long and Longer. Given the original Moxie’s infame for being one of the roomiest frames in the industry, it comes as no surprise to see some hella long reach figures on the Full Moxie. Matching the values seen on the MK2, the Long boasts a 470mm reach, while the Longer stretches out to a whopping 510mm. Sadly, at 5ft 4″ I won’t be swinging a leg over it any time soon.

That said, the seat tube is kept short at 420mm providing oodles of standover clearance. For all intents and purposes, it is also straight, bending late-on near the BB. Therefore, it should have no problem housing a full length 210mm dropper seat post.

A 440mm chainstay, consistent across the two frame sizes, provides ample clearance for a 29″ wheel. It is asymmetric, CNC’d on the drive side. The head tube angle sits at 64°. The seat tube is refreshingly upright, at a very healthy effective 77.5°. Find the full geometry details below.

The rear end boasts acres of clearance for a 3″ tyre on a 27.5″ wheel, or a 2.5″ tyre on a 29″ wheel

The Full Moxie’s CrMo 4130 steel tubeset is custom butted for strength, removing the need for unsightly gussets

The layout of the suspension means that the shock effectively cuts the front triangle in half, leaving very little room for the mounting of a water bottle. Therefore, Pipedream opted to place the only set of bottle bosses on the underside of the downtube. Pick your water bottle carefully, preferably one with a cap to keep the crud off the mouthpiece.
