PEdALED & Fizik pair up to create new, special edition Jary Terra Powerstrap X4 gravel shoes. Fizik’s Terra Powerstrap shoes have already been proving themselves as simple, affordable & versatile gravel riding option. And now they get a special edition Jary design to match the rest of your Pedaled gravel gear.

We’ve debated what makes a gravel-specific pair of cycling shoes a number of time before. But without rehashing too much, suffice it to say that the Fizik Terra Powerstrap X4 fits the bill – with a sole that nicely balances walkability & all-day pedaling efficiency, plus hike-a-bike ready tread and a durable upper.

Starting from there, PEdALED created a special edition in the same dark teal color featured in their Jary all-road line-up, so you can be all matchy-matchy with your gravel getup.

Tech-wise everything is identical to the Fizik version, just with Pedaled in Japanese on the end of the strap. What defines the shoes is probably their no-nonsense Powerstrap wrap around straps. No fancy dials or ratchets to fiddle with (or break), just a high-quality velcro strap directly across the midfoot and a second zig-zagging over the forefoot. Light, simple, and low-cost.

I’ve been riding the mud/caramel Fizik ones all spring, and the level 6/10 reinforced nylon sole is stiff enough for on-road pedaling, with just enough flex – mainly in the toe & heel – so you can comfortably walk too. Low-profile rubber tread makes them surefooted on hard surfaces, but they get overwhelmed a bit on muddy or especially loose hike-a-bikes. (They aren’t mountain bike shoes.)

The laser-perforated microtex synthetic upper has stood up to a good bit of abuse by me, with only minor fraying of the upper strap that doesn’t affect its function. And a reinforced toe-cap keeps them from getting scuffed.

The 160€ PEdALED Jary version adds just 10€ extra for their special color, with the same 292g claimed weight (42, per shoe) and full half size 37-47, plus 36 & 48 size range. Get them now direct from Pedlaed to round out your Jary kit.

  1. I would say any shoe with a heel pad that narrow is not suited for “hike-a-bike.” Nobody is walking their bike unless they’re on a steep, loose, rocky trail. Narrow heels don’t cut it.

  2. Doesn’t Velcro wear out pretty fast? And get filled w mud, dirt, debris and often not stick very well? Don’t elastic straps lose their elasticity and get loose after a year or so? I’m so confused

    • @Mic, so far 6 months in the Velcro has stood up very well. The straps cover it well, and I haven’t had any real issue with mud or debris (but technically we are in a drought here for a few years). The Powerstraps are also a durable flat strip webbing, no stretch.
@Edge, nothing overly high tech besides a nice zig-zag across the foot with the front strap. Still tech, just low-tech simple & effective.

  3. Still no offering from Fizik for humans with wider feet as I would definitely get a pair for mixed use riding.
