Did you notice the new State Bicycle Co. full-carbon gravel Monster Fork that we mentioned with State’s new alloy Black Label All-Road bike last week? What we initially suspected was going to be the standard carbon fork option on that aluminum gravel bike, turns out to be a decently-priced aftermarket fork option that will extend the adventure & bikepacking capability of not just State’s own gravel bikes, but others looking for more mounts…

State Bicycle Co. full-carbon gravel Monster Fork

State included the new Monster Fork as a $180 upgrade option above the standard, single low-rider mount carbon fork that came on their complete alloy 6061 Black Label All-Road bike builds last week. Those complete bikes have all already sold out, and the Monster upgrade does not seem possible with the Black Label All-Road framesets that are still available. But you can buy it directly still…

The Monster Fork is a full-carbon, tapered steerer adventure bikepacking bike fork designed to upgrade your gravel bike. It is meant to be compatible with State’s own 6061 Black Label All-Road and steel 4130 All-Road bikes, but those both feature pretty standard headtubes and geometry making this a suitable upgrade for plenty of other bikes.

We actually got a sneaky peek of State testing a slightly different pre-production version of the fork on that Sonoran Tan 4130 All-Road, up top. NOTE: The production fork has the slightly thinner crown & legs you see here in the studio photos that State sent to us.

The 510g uncut Monster Fork has a 1.5″ tapered carbon steerer, and features a 396.7mm axle-crown length with 45mm offset. The flat mount disc brake fork includes internal brake line routing, a set of 3-pack anything cage mounts on both legs, plus a crown mount & fender tabs behind the 12x100mm thru-axle dropout.

Monster Fork – Pricing & availability

State sells the Monster Fork on its own for $290 (without a compression plug that adds $13 extra). Or for $35 more, you can get it with an external Wolf Tooth lower headset cup that allows you to mount the Monster Fork into a frame with a straight 44mm headtube, like the steel All-Road. That external cup adds 11.7mm of stack, which state says will bring you back to +/-the same 408mm a-c length of their steel All-Road fork.

If you got the upgrade with the 4130 all-road bike will it come with everything needed to install the fork?
