Following the release of their all-new convertible full face helmet, the Enduro 4.0, Leatt have added two new gravity-oriented helmets to the Twenty21 line-up. The Leatt Gravity 8.0 and Gravity 1.0 helmets sit at complete opposite ends of the budget spectrum; the former is an all-singing all-dancing DH lid meeting motorcycle safety standards while the latter is a super affordable DH helmet still packed with high-end safety tech. Let’s dive in.

Leatt Gravity 8.0 DH Helmet

The new Leatt Gravity 8.0 downhill mountain biking helmet from Leatt puts all the safety technology you’d expect from a top-level DH helmet into a 1250g (+/- 50g) package. A composite shell houses brain injury reduction tech in the form of Leatt’s proprietary 360° Turbine Technology that we also see in the new Enduro 4.0 and the earlier DBX series.

Working similarly to the better-know MIPS system, Leatt’s Turbine Technology aims to reduces forces transmitted to the head associated with concussion, both in direct impacts and in the case of rotational impacts.

That sits inside impact absorbing foam of four different densities. All the safety features combined into the Leatt Gravity 8.0 helmet certify it to motorcycle standards (ECE 22.05), as well as the ASTM downhill mountain biking standards you might expect.

The helmet features removable, washable comfort liners that are treated with anti-microbials to keep sweat-inducing odour at bay.

Gravity 1.0 affordable DH Helmet

Coming in at less than $99.99, the Leatt Gravity 1.0 DH helmet offers impressive protection. As we see on the top-level Gravity 8.0, this far more affordable full face helmet still gets the 360° Turbine Technology packed into a much lighter 850g polymer shell package.

The Gravity 1.0 isn’t quite as safe as the $399.99 helmet, not certified for use on motorcycles. It does though receive full ASTM certification for downhill mountain biking. It is neck-brace compatible and features a breakaway visor function for additional rotational impact force reduction and a moisture wicking, breathable and washable inner liner.

Sizing & Availability

The Leatt Gravity 1.0 and Gravity 8.0 downhill mountain bike helmets are both available in sizes S to XL, covering head circumferences of 55cm to 62cm. There’s a bit of a delay with these so you’ll not see availability until around February 5th.
