Pipedream Cycles, fabricators of steel gravel and mountain bikes, have today released a new rigid fork to complement their Sirius hardtail. That said, there is nothing so proprietary about the Pipedream SRS48 fork that limits its use only to Pipedream Cycles frames. Let’s take a look at this new suspension corrected rigid CrMo option from the UK brand.

Pipedream Rigid Steel Fork

The SRS48 rigid fork can be run on frames built for 100mm-130mm travel suspension forks

The new Pipedream SRS48 fork is optimized to complement their Sirius mountain bike, transforming it from a capable progressive-geometry hardtail trail bike into a bikepacking worthy companion. Fabricated from CrMo steel, the 483mm axle-to-crown fork weighs a claimed 1500g with a 30cm uncut steerer.

The rigid fork runs a 110mm x 15mm thru-axle with 1.5 thread pitch. Designed to work with 29″ or 27.5″ wheels, the SRS48 allows sufficient clearance for 29″ x 3″ tires.

The SRS48 features a straight steerer tube and therefore requires a converter for use with EC44/40 headsets. The uni-crown offers a mount for fenders.

With the industry awash with news of supply chain issues and stock anxiety (whether due to the pandemic or Brexit), Pipedream are reassuring customers that their stock levels remain good. With short (by 2021 standards) lead times, the next batch of Moxie hardtail frames is due for arrival into the UK in the first week of February. 1. I started mountain biking on a rigid steel bike, and I don’t miss it for even a single second. It was terrible and way less fun than riding with even a basic suspension fork (a RockShox Judy). If there were no suspension forks in the world, I’d just switch to Fatbikes.

    • Easy. This is literally a surly krampus fork except for the post mount vs. IS brake mount.

Same axle to crown, offset, and mounts.

I can 99% say it is even made by the same factory in Taiwan.

If you don’t want the anything mounts you can get the salsa version.
