When the original K-Edge computer mounts debuted, Garmins were a lot smaller. And lighter. Since then, They’ve added the Pro mounts to handle adding a light or GoPro underneath. But we kept pushing it, didn’t we?

Now, they’ve introduced the new K-Edge MAX computer mounts, designed to hold your mega GPS cycling computer and high-powered, high-lumen headlights rock steady.

Why? Because as cycling computers get bigger, they not only get heavier, but they’re also pushed farther from the bar. Which means more force cantilevered on a small piece of alloy. Add a 1200-lumen headlight or the larger new GoPro HERO9, and you could have more than half a pound sitting 3-4″ off your bar.

Their payload is rated at 123g up top, and 242g below, for a total of 365g (13oz). Mounts weigh between 47g and 63g, depending on model and combo mounts, including a new version (keep reading).

All Pro Series Mounts (K13-1500, 1500C, 1505, 1505C, 1600C, 1605, 1605C) will be switched to the New MAX Series Mounts (K13-4500, 4500C, 4505, 4505C, 4500W, 4500WC, 4505W, 4505WC). Retail prices remain the same at $49.99 each, or $64.99 with the combo mount.

There’s other new mounts and parts, too

The light blue Wahoo computer mount insert will switch to gray. It’s made in Boise, ID, just like their machined alloy mounts, and will retail for $5.50 if you want to switch.

They’ve also added a dedicated Light & Motion mount that bolts to the bottom of the MAX. Check the video to see how it works!

K-Edge is still using two screws to attach the bar mount to the out-front Garmin + GoPro mount on the new Max mounts… If you ride a lot of miles, these two-bolt fastened K-Edge mounts last about 18 months before the screws snap in half. I shattered two of the original XL ones using an Edge 1000 and L&M 750 before I gave up on them and switched to Cycliq’s combo mount.

hoyhoy- The New K-EDGE MAX Mounts are not still using two screws. These new mounts are a solid piece of aluminum lower and the proven clamp design. They are purpose engineered and machined for the larger computers, cameras and lights. If you have a K-EDGE product issue- please email info@K-EDGE.com as we back all our products with our Lifetime Warranty.

Sorry, in the photos on the K-Edge site, it still showed two torx screws on the Max mounts. Would it be possible to send the old XL mount back for a Max mount?

I contacted K-Edge after reading this thread and got this response. Hopefully it helps clarify it for others like me who were confused!

The MAX series mounts are a solid, single arm design that eliminated the two assembly bolts that were at issue. The bolts seen in the image linked are only used for installing the insert, combo adapter, combo device retention and the clamp bolt. The other two bolts seen in the attached image (circled in red) have been eliminated from the design.

As much as I want the new XL max, I’d like K-edge to provide detailed photo’s of the Max versus the XL Max. The photos on the K-Edge, the two look identical. I don’t want to spend another $65 on the XL when the Max or another brand works as good or better.

I hope those one will be better than the previous (K13-1500)…
I losted the 2 mounting bolts on my last ride 🙁 Fortunatly for me my Garmin was attached to the frame with a wrist strap so i didn’t lose it!
I searched on the K-Edge website the specs of the bolts or if they where available to replace them but nothing. I send them an email and I am waiting now
