The Knolly Tyaughton is their all-new hardcore hardtail. Why hardcore? Because of its progressive trail riding appropriate geometry and 150-160mm travel fork. It rolls on a 29″ wheelset with a 64.5° head angle and tire clearance aplenty, making it a worthy weapon for weathering steep, loamy hillsides this winter. Complete bike pricing starts at $3599 USD, though you can spend a lot more than that, choosing from a steel or titanium frameset with GX and XT build models.

The all-new Knolly Tyaughton rolls up on a 29″ wheelset with Super Boost 157mm rear axle spacing more commonly reserved for downhill bikes. That, combined with 427mm chainstays, gives this hardtail mountain bike clearance for 2.6″ tires, or up to 3.0″ tires if you swap out the 29″ wheels for 27.5″. Knolly say the wider rear end gives exceptional heel clearance, while accommodating chainrings up to 36T.

The super boost spacing sets the tone for a bike with geometry well-suited to descending. Though the complete builds come with a 150mm travel fork, Knolly say the frame geometry also works well with a 160mm fork. The longer fork gives the bike a slightly slacker head angle of 64°, as opposed to 64.5° on the stock bike. Reach is very, very generous, starting at 441mm in small, stretching to 522mm in XL. That range is meant to cater to rider heights from 155cm to 195cm.

The seat tube angle is quoted as an effective 75°, consistent across the size range, with a BB height of 323mm with 29″ wheels.

The Knolly Tyaughton is available in steel and titanium framesets. The premium air hardened steel frameset will set you back $1099 USD. For the Ti, you’ll have to reach much deeper into your pockets to find $2999 USD. Both frames get a size-specific tubeset, tailoring the butting profiles and tube sizes to the average size and weight of the rider. In this way, frame compliance is tuned too. The frames also get a unique head tube shape designed to maximize strength to support forks up to 170mm.

Tubesets flow into custom CNC machined dropouts, yokes and access ports (Titanium-only) so that stress risers are minimized. The included ISCG mount attaches cleanly into a recessed CNC machined pocket on the chainstay yoke.
