A steel DirtLove dirt jumper was literally the first bike that kickstarted YT Industries as a bike company. What better icon of young talent is there than kids doing sick tricks off jumps on an affordable bulletproof singlespeed hardtail mountain bike? Well 16 years later, YT has made their signature DJ bike even more accessible with a more affordable DirtLove AL in aluminum. Whether you are throwing shapes in slopestyle, playing on the dirt jumps on the edge of town, chasing kids in the skatepark, or lapping friends around the local pumptrack… the new YT DirtLove AL makes N+1 an easier calculation than ever…
2024 YT DirtLove AL aluminum dirt jump bike
Just last year, YT brought the price of the limited edition chromoly steel DirtLove down in price to make it more accessible. But now they’ve taken it one step further with the YT Mob. Both creating a more performance-focused bike, and making it more affordable than ever. There’s even a frameset option for those looking to go full-custom with the build.
No longer confined to dirt jumps anymore, Erik Fedko and his fellow Mobsters are sending this new high-performance DJ hardtail on the biggest built-up wooden jumps of the pro slopestyle scene.
“DIRTLOVE is the bike that put YT on the map, and I’m stoked to be part of that legacy. Being given the freedom and opportunity to take the platform to the next level is the dream, and I can’t wait to see where it take me this season.”
– Erik Fedko, YT Mob
What’s new?
Now that it’s in hydroformed aluminum – just like their affordable fullies – the new DirtLove AL frame gets the signature angular YT headtube design. YT calls it their Headbox. No need for extra gussets, the reinforcement is literally formed into the new hardtail’s 1.5″ tapered ZeroStack headtube shape.
The new bike is still built around 26″ wheels and 135mm bolt-on rear wheel spacing. But it gets new adjustable slider (replaceable) 7075 dropouts with a built-in chain tensioner, chainstays as short at 375mm, and Post Mount brake tabs that slide with the dropout.
It also sticks with a tried & true BSA threaded bottom bracket, and conventional seatpost clamp.
No fancy internal routing to worry with on this one – just zip-tie guides for a brake. Complete bikes come with a rear brake and extra long hose to wrap around the headtube a couple of times. (And they include disc brake-ready fork & front hubs). But if you’re looking to do more than a few barspins, YT says you can drop an aftermarket Title G1 Gyro in for unlimited spins.
Tweaked dirt jump geometry
YT offers the new DirtLove AL in 2 sizes – regular and long – to fit riders from 1.5-2m tall (4’11”-6-7″).
Geometry is pretty similar to the steel reissue that started back in 2019, with a few key tweaks. The biggest change is the shorter wheelbase. That comes thanks to shorter chainstays made possible by the move to aluminum and a machined chainstay yoke. Plus, it gets a slightly steeper headtube, longer Reach on the regular, and higher Stack on the long.
YT DirtLove AL – Pricing, availability & options
The new alloy bike comes in two new affordable builds, available direct from YT now. Pricing now starts at $999 / £999 / 999€ for the YT DirtLove Core 1 AL in Bruise purple. That comes with the 100mm Manitou Circus Expert air fork, 165mm SRAM X1 cranks, a Level rear brake, and 26×2.3″ Maxxis DTH tires on house brand YT wheels (11.8kg).
Then, jump up to the YT DirtLove Core 2 AL in Dove white for $£€1399. You get a 100mm Marzocchi Bomber DJ fork, Descendant cranks, Level T brake, and the same DTH tires but on new DT Swiss D1900 370 singlespeed Ratchet LN wheels (11.6kg).
Or pick up the limited edition Phoenix red Uncaged frameset (2.5kg) in Europe. For £500€ you get the frame, Cane Creek headset, and YT seat clamp with its rubber dust seal. Then, it’s up to you what dream dirtjumper build you can imagine.
And with the frameset, “each paint job is one-of-a-kind and uses a blowtorch to create a smoke effect, making each frame unique and a prime starting point for a high-performance custom build.”
