As of this post’s publish timestamp, 7-year-old Londoner Charlie Simpson has raised more than $271,000 (£168,063) for Haiti relief efforts by riding his bike. After seeing images of the devastation, he decided to ride five miles around a nearby park to raise money using the fundraising assistance website JustGiving.com. When the media picked it up, donations poured in from around the world.
