Distressed Leather was the colorway choice of Freerider Aaron Chase for his Signature Leatt 3.0 flat pedal mountain bike shoe. This is the newest addition to Leatt’s Twenty/Twenty line of flat and clipless shoes for mountain biking, retailing at $129.99.

Feature wise, the Aaron Chase Signature Shoe is identical to the Leatt 3.0 Flat Pedal MTB Shoe. The only real difference is the colorway. And, the only thing of note really is that this legend of the Freeride World chose to make the Leatt 3.0 his Signature Shoe, as opposed to the 2.0 Flat or the 4.0 Clipless or 5.0 All-Weather Clipless options.

“I wanted a shoe that was perfect for riding, digging and everything in between. When Leatt came to me with their new shoe range it was pretty clear for me that the 3.0 was going to be the base for my signature shoe because it ticks all the boxes.” – Aaron Chase

The Leatt 3.0 Shoe features their RIDEGRIP compound molded into a Waffle Grip pattern of triangles. The indented shape is said to interlock with pedal pins to form a mechanical lock offering superb grip and bike control.

Like all mountain bike shoes in the Leatt Twenty/Twenty line, the Aaron Chase Signature 3.0 also gets mud channels at the toe and heel portion of the sole. These are meant to encourage trail crud to fall off the sole, preventing “sole float” on the pedals and while walking.

The Leatt 3.0 features ankle protection at the inside of the shoe

The 3.0 shoe is a little stiffer than the 2.0 with a medium-hard flexing shank. It uses Leatt’s own-design compression laces. The fabric is anti-stretch and waterproof, meaning the laces shouldn’t expand in wet conditions, and should retain tension.

Pricing & Availability

The Aaron Chase Signature Leatt 3.0 is available now worldwide and retails at $129.99.

“What makes the perfect riding shoe? Well, it needs to protect your foot. Protection is often overlooked but very important. Second, it needs to be comfortable. I ride all-day so the shoe needs to be nice and snug. Third, it needs to be grippy in all weather conditions and not just on the pedals!”

“Lastly, they should be durable. I ride, dig and do loads of stuff in my riding shoes so they need to be tough. Oh and one more thing – they need to look awesome! I am stoked about my signature shoe with Leatt, I hope you enjoy riding in them too.” – Aaron Chase.
