absoluteBLACK has unleashed a trio of small parts made to simplify brake caliper mounting, adjustment, and resets. With their usual anodized style, this collection also aims to remove the frustrations of standard bits and bobs when trying to get your stoppers perfectly aligned.

Hydraulic Brake Piston Press

You cooooould use a flat head. And you probably have. We certainly have. But the right tool makes the job not only better, but safer for your calipers and pistons.

The new absoluteBLACK Piston Press (€35.95 / $41.95) lets you quickly reset your pistons safely and evenly. And it looks good doing it, with a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer body and titanium hardware, because why not?

Why use this? Maybe you need to make some space for fresh pads. Or maybe your brake pads have worn unevenly, or your caliper isn’t perfectly centered over the rotor, leading to one piston being more extended than the other, and you want to re-center your pistons so you can then re-center your caliper to even things out. That’s a great idea, which is why they’re also launching…

Ti Flat Mount Caliper Bolts w/ Ultra-Low Friction Washers

Ever tried to center your caliper only to have it slide out of perfect alignment as soon as you start tightening the bolts?

Sometimes that’s because the frame or fork’s mounting surface isn’t perfectly flat and perpendicular to the screw’s bore. But absoluteBLACK says it’s also sometimes because standard (and even some titanium) bolts and washers have rough surfaces that can twist, drag, and slide as you tighten them. And then your careful alignment goes to crap.

Their solution is to apply PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coatings to a titanium bolt and washer, creating an ultra-slick interface. They say you can torque them down without them sliding out of position, leaving your calipers where you want and speeding up installation.

Available in Grey, Gold and Rainbow in sizes 15, 22, 27, 32, and 37mm. Each bolt is sold per piece, MSPR is €8.95 / $10.50.

Flat Mount Disc Brake Adaptor

This one’s simple: If you want a flat mount brake adapter that isn’t a solid chunk of basic black aluminum, these are prettier. And probably lighter.

They’re compatible with the most common flat mount standards (including Specialized SL8). Available in Grey and Black and come with two titanium mounting bolts. Options include Front, Rear (fits both SRAM and Shimano calipers), and a front-specific mount for Specialized SL8 forks.
MSRP is €29.95 / $34.95.
