All-City Cycles Thunderdome

All-City started off making track and fixed gear free style bikes, and they are at it again with their new masterpiece, the Thunderdome.  They took the proven track geometry used in their Big Block and adapted it ever so slightly to make use of a shorter axle-to-crown carbon fork.  The tubing comes in the form of oversized oval tubing rather than an aero profile tubeset to ensure the stiffness is there for those sprint monsters.  And just to sweeten the deal, the black frame is spruced up with policed panels on the down tube and chain stays.  This frameset is hot, and it can be yours for $650 because they are in stock now.

After the break you get frame specs, plus information on the new Fast is Forever kit.

All City Fast Is Forever Kit

All-City has designed their new Fast is Forever kit in house, and had Twin Six do the sewing right here in the US of A.  They are in stock now, so hit up your local bike shop to own it.  And be sure to hit up the All-City Blog for some great images of Jeff molding the crap out of that kit.

Looks like a nice frame for the privateer racer. It’s cheaper than the super-pista, which I think is it’s next closest competitor, and QBP’s distribution should help make it available to most major markets, and some specialty shops in track racing-heavy areas (those probably exist, right?). The only other track frames I see competing much are some of the aluminum Dolan frames, and they don’t seem to have a huge presence in the US market, even if they are nice frames.

As for the kit, I’m not a fan of the colors, but I like the growing trend of minimalist kit design. Between this and the wallet-slaying Sky kit from Rapha, I think kit design is moving in a neat direction.

After owning an older Leader track frame for a good four years now and my current SSCX build as a Nature Boy, I am seriously considering upgrading to this frame for track use. I am super pleased with the quality and price point that All City are offering with their frames. They are very affordable and very simple, which I like. Seems like a good track bike that can be trained and raced!

Keep it up All City!
