The Amgen Tour of California revealed their leaders’ jerseys today, each with its own sponsor.  The overall leader’s Yellow Jersey, above,  goes to the overall race leader at the end of each stage.  Read “more” to see the KOM, Sprinter, Most Courageous and Best Young Rider jerseys…
The Red “California Travel & Tourism” King of the Mountain (KOM) jersey goes to the rider with the most points accumulated by crossing certain climbs and mountain tops first.  Points are awarded only to the first three riders to cross each checkpoint.
The Green “Herbalife” Sprint Jersey goes to the rider with the most points accumulated in Sprint Line bonuses.  These points can be earned by winning the sprint for the stage and by consistently finishing in the top 15 of each stage.
The Blue “Amgen Breakaway from Cancer” jersey goes to the rider that, and I quote, “best exemplifies the character of those engaged in the fight against cancer.” One Blue jersey will be awarded each day to the rider who best demonstrates courage, sacrifice, inspiration, determination and perseverance.
The White “Rabobank Best Young Rider” jersey goes to the Under 23 (U23) rider with the lowest cumulative time at the end of each stage.
