Berd has teamed up with the aero gurus at HED Cycling to create the Peregrine Aero Wheels—a blend of ultralight, flex-tuned Berd spokes and HED’s wind-cheating rim tech. The new Peregrine wheels center around the HED Vanquish V62 rims (read our entire tech piece here). And yes, like a proper Midwest collaboration, they’re handcrafted in Minnesota.

Lightest Spokes in the Game

Berd’s Polylight Spokes are the lightest in the world. That’s not marketing fluff—that’s a fact. These spokes don’t just shave grams; their natural vibration-damping properties take the edge off harsh road feedback, making for a ride that’s smooth, lively, and easy on the body. Paired with the stiff, aero profile of the V62 rims, you’re looking at a balance of efficiency and comfort that’s hard to beat.

Built Around the Berd Talon Hubs

Holding it all together is the Berd Talon hubset, purpose-built for Berd’s unique spokes. Weighing in at just 359 grams per set, these hubs bring elite-level durability and performance in a lightweight package. Choose from 11/12 Speed, Microspline, or XDR driver options.

Looking to Drop Even More Grams?

The Industry Nine Solix option trims even more weight for the gram-counters while still delivering that signature snappy engagement. Available with XDR, HG 11/12-Speed, Microspline, or Campy N3W driver bodies.

How much lighter are the Peregrine wheels vs the HED Vanquish V62 Pro series? HED quotes the V62 Pro series wheelset at  1673g ± 30g. That includes a build with Sapim CX-ray, hooked spokes, and a HED branded hubset. The Berd Peregrine wheels are quoted at 1,534g without tape or valves…

Those spokes are going to give up more than the gains of going to a deeper rim. You might as well just ride a shallower rim with CX-rays and lower spoke count if you’re a very light rider that suffers from stiff wheels.

Polymer spokes absolutely have a place in MTB, and the slower gravel courses. But aero road wheels? Come on …

And despite the weight savings of the textile spokes the wheelset is relatively heavy. And expensive. And narrow.

Berd spokes 270 mm: 2,5g
Nextie spoke 270mm: 1,9g
Extralite spoke: 2,0g
many other carbon spokes from all over the world from 1,8g
Marketing fluff!

those are properly heavy wheels…..lightweight at that depth really should be sub 1250g, if not 1150

Farsports 58mm deep with NonPlus hubs (Princeton carbon hubs open) $1800 for ~1300g.

These Berds are for the birds.
