The inaugural race sold out in minutes, and then everyone waited through pandemic delays before it polished off the North American gravel season last year.
Now, the 100-mile 2022 Big Sugar is about to open registration on Tuesday, March 1, at 5pm EST, and they suspect it’ll sell out super quick, too. As will the 50-mile Little Sugar, both roaming the backroads leading out of downtown Bentonville, with a surprisingly tough amount of elevation (and a brewery stop a little more than halfway through).
From Life Time: There is no lottery for this event, so riders will have to act fast to secure their 100 or 50-mile dose of (Big) Sugar in Bentonville, Arkansas on October 22. Big Sugar and the 50-mile Lil Sugar will take riders on picturesque yet rarely maintained gravel roads in Northwest Arkansas and Southern Missouri, one of the sweetest cycling regions of the country.
The front of the race will be full of drama this year, as Big Sugar will be the last stop of the Life Time Grand Prix, and athletes will be hoping to secure a piece of the $250,000 series prize purse. However, athletes of any ability can sign up for the distance of their choice!
