Look has just introduced a new Quartz mountain bike pedal, available in three trims:  Quartz Carbon Ti (120g/pedal, $419/pair), Quartz Carbon Chromoly (130g/pedal, $199/pair) and the Quartz (140g/pedal, $99/pair).
The two “Carbon” models use an injection molded carbon body, while the lower end Quartz uses a glass fiber-reinforced polyamide body, which still saves weight over aluminum-bodied pedals of the same size.  Look listed a few features that make them special:
MUD SHEDDING: Full hollow sections along its axle shed mud efficiently.
LARGE PEDAL PLATFORM: Large platform and wide support width make it stable and efficient.
TWO-BEARING AXLE SYSTEM: The axle assembly consists of 1 sealed ball bearing (ø10mm inside X ø19mm outside) which supports axial loads and one needle roller bearing supporting radial loads. The axle and bearing seals work in conjunction to withstand extreme cycling conditions.
DURABILITY: Before passing final production, all LOOK axles are submitted to a 1 million cycle rotational test at 100rpm. In addition, an offset load of 80kg is applied to every pedal stroke (This creates an impact at each revolution). These strict testing requirements exceed the most demanding standard in force, EN104781.
Additionally, the Quartz cleats have a height tuning system to help you get the position just right for your tootsies.  The cleats are made of a very high friction coefficient steel with the following specs:
- Angle freedom: ±3°
- Side freedom: ±1.5mm
- Disengagement angle: 15°
