bikerumor pic of the day valley view sinkhole gravel ride

Photo submitted by Gerald Torrance, “Instead of the usual Saturday road ride, the gang opted to head out into the country for their very first experience with gravel roads. As you can see, there were nothing but smiles. Departing from quaint  Texas town of Valley View (about 60 miles North of Dallas), the 50 mile route took us through farm lands, ranches, small towns, and even one random sinkhole, where we stopped for a break and a snack.”

We always love to see your photos and would like to show them to the world here on the Pic Of The Day. Send in your photo with a brief description here.

Eventually the dude on the cyclocross bike will figure out that the folks on the full-sus MTBs are both faster and much less beat up at the end of the ride.

They will all soon realize, if they haven’t already, that riding dirt roads is way more fun than riding with cars on pavement.

@Larry: Ironically, the only thing that the dude on the ‘cross bike learned was that his bike (a rental mind you) was quite comfortable and MUCH lighter and faster than any of the mountain bikes. Sadly, many of the mountain bikers learned that it’s a little embarrassing to have your @$$ handed to you by a 68 year old man on a ‘cross bike. Several of the mountain bikers will be renting or buying ‘cross or gravel specific bikes for our next outing.

Right on regarding riding on dirt roads!
