Joshua Hammer is a freelance foreign correspondent for the NY Times and is based in Berlin. He and Mark Simon, also from the NY Times, recently documented a cycling trip that followed along the Iron Curtain (the ideological and physical boundary dividing Europe into two separate areas from the end of World War II in 1945 until the end of the Cold War in 1991).
