The Bluegrass Legit Carbon is a new €450 carbon fiber full face helmet designed to have more coverage and more venting, offering all the things you want without the downsides of such lids. UPDATE: They also offer the more affordable Legit, which retails for €200 and has a fiberglass shell.

Quick background: Bluegrass is the sister brand to MET, and it’s where they put more of their gravity-oriented items like body protection and bigger helmets. But they share the same development team, giving them more resources than a standalone DH/freeride brand would otherwise justify. And for this helmet, they also worked with Norco team to develop it and ensure it met the standards of pro-level riding.

The Legit Carbon comes in at a claimed 1,100g to 1,200g depending on size, and gets a LOT of venting (for a DH helmet). The outer shell is carbon fiber, and the inside uses a multi-impact EPS liner. There’s also injected polyurethane foam used in areas where you’re more likely to contact it, improving overall comfort.

It has a taller chin guard, but with more room inside so it’s more comfortable. Overall, it’s bigger and has more venting, with internal channels to move more air through it. They even add hearing vents to help you hear better, which also has they added benefit of reducing that claustrophobic feeling you can get with some helmets. You can’t see it from these photos, but there’s also a MIPS liner hiding in there.

The visor is completely flexible, so it won’t get damaged in a crash, but more importantly, it won’t cause your helmet to twist in a wreck, so it’s safer. It also flips up, and can break away completely if necessary, so it won’t, um, impact your impact.

They make it in five effective sizes thanks to two different shell sizes paired with three EPS internal sizes and different padding sizes. All pads areremovable for easy washing. Available November in four colors.

Speaking of MET, they recently released a host of new, affordable helmets for kids and adults looking for solid XC and trail riding protection.

Pinkbike quoting it as €450 – who has the correct info? €200 sounds waaay too cheap for carbon, mips, etc..
BikeRadar quoting €200 for a composite one which is available before the carbon one…
