BOYD Cycling has released an lighter version of its Jocassee Carbon Gravel Wheelset, now the Jocassee SL, thanks to upgraded carbon rims and new hubs.
Coming in at just 1,145g, they’re still designed for rough courses where a deeper rim would ride too harshly. The rims are just 322g each, now made with Toray T1000 carbon fiber in high-stress areas. Boyd says they’re tested to withstand 120 joules of impact – 3x the UCI safety requirement – which they say makes it one of the strongest lightweight gravel rims on the market.

The hookless tubuless rims are 25mm deep with a 26mm internal width, designed for 700c x 36-55mm wide gravel tires. Maximum tire pressure is 65 psi.

The Jocassee SL gets Boyd’s Grade 54 ratchet hubs, which provide 6.6-degree engagement angles for quicker power transfer during those on-again-off-again rough sections. Inside are Enduro ABEC-5 bearings, and they use Center Lock disc brake mounts. They’re handbuilt with Pillar Wing 20 spokes and use an offset rim bed and spoke drilling to balance spoke tension.

MSRP is $2,000 USD, available now through BOYD Cycling’s website and authorized dealers. Get it with your choice of Shimano HG, Microspline, SRAM XDR, Campagnolo & Campy N3W freehub bodies.
