Another in the round of custom Cape Epic XC bikes, is this Buff-Megamo Team replica Megamo Track. I don’t believe we’ve ever covered Girona-based Mégamo bikes before. Although I’ve occasionally seen them around the European XC Marathon circuit over the last few years. This latest Track XC bike even popped up in the PR of Fulcrum’s latest Red Zone Carbon+ cross-country racing wheels last fall.

Now the Buff-Megamo men have ridden to a first-stage Cape Epic win on this limited edition bike you can actually buy now through their dealers… if one is close to you.

What kind of bike is the Megamo Track R120?

The Megamo Track is a modern 120mm full carbon full-suspension XC race bike, paired to 120mm forks. It features a familiar lightweight linkage-driven single-pivot suspension design with small-diameter flex seatstays. Its short control link is mounted high on the seattube, driving a horizontal shock under the thin, wide toptube.

The Track is built around modern geometry for technical XCO & XCM racing – in 4 stock sizes (S-XL). Slack 66.5° head angle, steep 75.6° seat angle, short 431mm chainstays. And medium long Reach (435mm in M, 460mm in L).

Add on top of that most of the current top-tier standards. Fully internal routing through the headset, UDH, 29er x 2.4″ tire clearance, Boost spacing, BB92 PressFit bottom bracket, a 31.6mm dropper post, and mechanical or electronic compatibility.

The bikes feature geometric contour graphics inspired by local South African art. The green & blue pull the more subdued colors out of their standard team pastel palette to match the South African flag.

The reason you and I haven’t really heard much about Megamo is that they are almost exclusively distributed through a network of less than 200 dealer bike shops in Spain and its territories. Plus, another select handful of countries around the world. I know that makes it less appealing to most of our global readers. But this is still a great-looking limited edition bike worth a closer look.

Only 20 Buff-Megamo Team Cape Epic Limited Edition Megamo Track XC bikes are officially for sale anyway. And they retail for 11,000€, pricing them out of most of our budgets anyway. But for that, you do get a race-ready build to match your custom Cape Epic team paintjob.

120mm RockShox SID Ultimate fork, 120mm via the SIDLuxe Ultimate rear shock, a complete SRAM XX SL AXS Eagle transmission & powermeter cranks, Level Ultimate Stealth 4-piston brakes, a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper, and Fulcrum Red Zone Carbon wheels.

And an exclusive matching Buff-Megamo Team Racing Kit from Castelli to ride in, as well. Just not in the European, Dutch, or Portuguese XCM champs’ colors.
