With the current season providing dry weather every other hour or so, a varied collection of cycling clothing can make all the difference for ride enjoyment. Chrome’s on the ball with their spring line, a compilation of gear that garbs from torso to feet.
For the not so enjoyable weather, they have the water resistant De Haro Windbreaker, which comes with a rear stow pocket, two way zipper, and mesh panels on the side to keep the air flowing. It brings enough fashion to the mix to count as urban wear, but keeps it technical with a windproof nylon ripstop fabric and cycling fit (aka longer arms and torso for ideal coverage when hunched over). I’m still getting heavy use from the Endura Urban Collection jacket, but this looks to be a worthy contender. Available in black and cranberry for $95.

The Mason Riding Jersey is designed for use as a casual riding jersey. A 90% merino wool blended with 10% nylon should give it all the essential fabric qualities of a riding piece, serving to both wick sweat and keep the smell of sweaty human at bay. It’s available in v-neck and crew for $70 in black.
The Union short has been out for a while, though Chrome has had some supply issues in the past. Regardless, they’re back and they’re technical. Water resistant, they get all the features like a seamless crotch, quick drying fabric, reflective detailing, four way stretch and snap pockets in the rear. Available in charcoal for $80. A word of warning: they’re slim fitting, so if you’re beefing up for the crits, they may get a little tight.
Released a month or so ago with details, the Truk Pro is Chrome’s latest clipless shoe. Designed as a high end urban shoe for a mixture of on/off the bike use, it gets a flexy recessed SPD sole, cordura outer, and grippy outsole. We’re currently have a pair in for review. After a month of use, they’re fantastic and have held up to the elements, being about as flexy as can be expected with a nylon plate jammed through the sole. On the bike, they’re plenty stiff enough to mash through town and off the bike there’s no lack of compliments from the fashion-centric crowd. Pricing is $95 in grey and black.
