Chrome’s windtunnel tested cargo backpack, plus new MXD laptop sling

The Chrome Yalta is part of their Citizen Series’ new Black Chrome collection, and it’s probably the first cargo backpack that’s been wind tunnel tested for cyclists. Not for aerodynamics, though. It was to see how heat dissipated off the rider’s back, and how they could take advantage of that information to create better flow patterns to keep you cool.

They’ve also added several features and interior updates to messengers, slings, and others. All of which come in (wait for it…) Black.

The Yalta uses their 22X (meaning, cut on a 22º bias, which they say helps reduce the likelihood of tearing if you catch it on something) Cordura outer material that’s coated to repel water. A waterproof zipper pocket is hidden on the side and fits your smartphone for quick access.

The back panel is molded into outward glancing beams, with rounded edges and two center channels. This helps air come in from the top, then exit out the sides to keep your back cooler and less sweaty. Retail is $200.

Chrome MXD Link Laptop Sling

Sometimes, two shoulder straps just take too much time. And a messenger bag is just a little too slide-around-and-get-in-you-way-y. But sometimes, you still need to bring your laptop. Enter, the new Chrome MXD Link Sling. It’s a single shoulder strap design that’s more compact than a messenger but still fits a 13″ laptop.

Three front zip pockets help keep the little stuff organized, and the interior will hold your mini-computer, a tablet, and a windbreaker or something, too. Portable office solved. Retail is $120, available in Olive or Black.
