KiBiSi, a new Danish Design firm, is a collaboration from three individuals that joined forces to grow their businesses. One project is the 2010 concept Puma folding bicycle with the giant grocery basket on the front. Called the Series 2, it borrows the basic frame shape as the Puma Boston (shown after the break), but makes the wheels smaller and simplifies it a bit by removing the gears and the integrated cable lock. It should be in Puma stores in 2010.
This isn’t the first Puma bike, though, nor the first bicycle that designer Jens Martin Skibsted has done. Check out a few others after the break…
The Puma Boston debuted back around 2005 and featured an integrated cable lock as a non-functioning downtube. Well, it’s non-functioning in that it’s not creating stability, but cut it (as in, try to steal the bike), and the bicycle won’t be rideable. That little red thing behind the head tube is the key.
The Series 2 should fold up very similar to the Boston.
Skibsted’s Biomega design firm comes up with a few bicycles of their own. Above is the ladies’ Copenhagen commuter bike, and below is the Brooklyn, a bouncy, super-fat tired “urban bmx” play bike. It works as well on sand and snow as it does on pavement.
