While it might develop better muscle memory to use a standard trainer and something like the Wahoo standup/cycling desk, not every employer is keen on a complete rework of your gopher hole cubicle. For those needing a more stealthy way to spin the legs at work (or sitting on the couch binge watching Netflix), there’s Cycli.

Already past their Kickstarter funding goal, Cycli is a small, Internet- and socially connected portable stationary cycle. Sync it with their smartphone app via Bluetooth and you can share your rides with friends or even compete in real time…

The unit’s magnetic resistance keeps it quiet, and its metal structure should keep it solidly planted while you ride intervals or suffer through high cadence sessions. It uses a rechargeable battery, making it fully portable, and also works while the charger is plugged in. Check them out on Kickstarter here and nab one for $99, a full $100 off planned retail price.

Concern #1: My knees would hit the underside of my desk.
Concern #2: My chair is on wheels and would roll back on my down strokes.
Concern #3: The crank arm length is crazy short, it would be like riding a kid’s tricycle.

How is it for noise ?

The social aspect is not worth the additional cost compared to any of the much cheaper units available on Amazon. I’m kinda surprised people actually pledged $110k towards this.

don’t be. people pledged $600k to a “smart” water bottle that tracks your water intake.

They made this 15+ ago at the sharper image stans the display and app. It was horrible then and adding an app to it isn’t going to help.

I need one for my “gopher hole”! They posted a video on the kickstarter showing the noise level. It seems quieter than a fan. Apparently the shorter cranks are meant to avoid hitting your knees.
