We first saw the FSA System for gravel, road and commuter bikes nearly a year ago. The HM 1.0 system is now ready for mass production and is expected to hit production bikes in September this year. The complete FSA System includes a rear hub motor, a 250Wh battery, an additional 250Wh range boosting battery plugin and a built-in toptube controller. Being for road and adventure bikes the system needs to be light. Weighing in at 3.98kg (8.77lbs) for the complete system, it is a light option for the battery capacity.

The motor has 5 output settings starting with eco mode and finishing with boost. Boost mode tops off at 250W and 42Nm of torque. Naturally, when the motor senses your speed exceeds 25km/h in the EU or 32km/h in the US the system turns off. Also, when speeds exceed their set limit the motor removes drivetrain resistance and offers a natural riding feel. The system has a small q-factor which allows it to fit into XS frames and all geometries. It also has Bluetooth and ANT+ to connect to the iOS & Android app for riding stats, battery life and turn-by-turn navigation.

The FSA System will be readily available on 4 prebuilt wheelsets including the Vision Metron 40 SL Disc, Trimax 30 Disc, Team 30 Disc and AGX gravel-specific wheelset. Additional wheelsets are being developed so they can accommodate gravel, road and commuter riders.
