2008 eurobike awards fixie headshok

It seems some IBD worries that Cannondale would get homogenized and dumbed down when they were purchased by Dorel (which owns Pacific Bikes aka: Walmart bikes) should be put to rest upon viewing this Bad Boy city bike using a modded headshok.  Click through “more” for other sweet bikes and gadgets that took home some awards…

Fixie Inc won for it’s super sleek Five Star belt drive single speed, which we posted on here.  Some of the other winners are:

Giant City Speed includes an integrated handlebar / stem / light, keeping the design clean and simple.

NuVinci showed this “Cruise Controller” Infinitely Variable Smooth Hub, using technology similar to the CVT transmissions in some Nissans to provide gear-free variability in pedaling effort while standing and moving forward and back.

Magura won for its new Marta Magnesium SL disc brakes, a sub-300g system featuring self-adjusting brake pads and ti hardware.

Perhaps the trickest item to win is this QR set from Zefal that prevents removal while the bike is upright.  Thanks to a rotating axle, the levers will only release when the bike is flipped upside down, giving you the convenience of quick release with the security of bolts (assuming you lock your bike up such that would-be thieves can’t flip your bike over).
